Shoreham-on-Sea, Sussex

LL: "inspired by a real houseboat spotted at Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex"

Peter Jordan writes:

"It turns out the plot was sold last year and LL Cygnet (real name Royal Native) was broken up.

Upper photo:remains of upturned keel.

Lower photo: The sheds still remain. The one in the model was used as a kitchen.

Location: The house boats are moored between the road and foot bridges on the south bank of the river Adur. 'Cygnet' is the 3rd boat in from the west end (Airport end)"

The Church In The Wood

Bramdean Common

From info I suggest you take Wood Lane out of Bramford and it should be on the left as you come to Bramdean Common. No idea about signage.

"Due to security problems, the Church in the Woods is not open during the day except when there is a service taking place - although you can walk around the outside of the church in the open woodland at anytime.

Evensong services fortnightly from May to September

JRS note: This type of bulding was used widely as church halls, there used to be one as "The Vicarage Room" in Great Baddow where I lived for many years.

JRS: "I can't work out where this is meant to be. It can't represent the Thames bridge. The archway up to the church is not castellated [248804] and there is a lych gate at the top.

We do not now or a castellated arch in Clifton Hampden.

Jan Tarrant has identified such a wall in Shirburn which is 13 mies away.

The rebuilt Pixie House (the Harbour Light) in Boscastle. The 300 year old famous for its crooked roof is reputedly the most photographed building in Boscastle.
In 2004 the Pixie House took the full brunt of the floods and was completely destroyed. Within 2 years however it was returned to its former glory.
