After dropping a friend at Gatwick we went in search of the Lilliput Lane
"Playtime" which is modelled on the village school at Ockley
in Surrey. |
|
We stopped for coffee. The Scarlett Arms is an unspoilt little red-tiled
country pub for the charmingly straightforwad way its carefully preserved original
small-roomed layout takes you back in time. Its three neatly kept communicating rooms have
low black oak beams, deeply polished flagstones, simple but perfectly comfortable benches,
high bar stools with backrests, trestle tables, country prints, and two roaring winter log
fires |
 |
We moved on to Kent and stopped in the village of Chiddingstone
for lunch |
 |
before moving on to Hever Castle for the
afternoon. |
