POST MISTRESS RETIRES

The tiny Post Office which has been an iconic symbol  of Farndale, has closed with the retirement of our Postmistress Nora Dobson, after 35 years. The Post Office must be one of the most photographed in the North York Moors and possibly the whole country. Janet Campling was the final customer before Nora closed the door for the last time at 4pm on Monday 27th March.

Nora would like to thank all her customers for their support down the years. She also said “Please do continue to call for a chat”.

If anyone is interested in running a replacement Post Office in Farndale please contact the Post Office

The Lilliput Lane model has this miniature building in its front garden
Confusingly there is another  building currently known as "The Old Post Office!" further down behind the chapel and hidden behind gates.
In fact that is the rear entrance to a house to the left of the Methodist Chapel. That building was formerly a shop and is known to locals as that.
Other Buildings
You can find "Bring Forth....." left at this junction and opposiute the small car park.
