Castell Coch looks like an old castle that should be on the Rhein. Its a late nineteenth-century 'fairytale'-style castle, built on medieval remains, designed for the third Marquess of Bute by William Burges. Lavishly decorated and furnished in the Victorian Gothic style; a Romantic vision of the Middle Ages.

Lilliput lane's "Castell Coch" is named after the building of that name just north of Cardiff its Welsh for Red Castle
