Lilliput Lane's "The Bell at Stilton" is based on The Bell Inn Hotel, GREAT NORTH ROAD, PE7 3RA (TEL. 01733 241066)

It's in the "Good Pub Guide 2009" and serves an excellent lunch

The inn sign has a very ornate support system The early wings were demolished and replaced
Front of the "coach arch" The "courtyard" side told passengers how far they had to travel
A cheese press in the bar There has been a well in Stilton since Roman times
The town sign depicts "The Bell" The "Angel Inn" was opposite "The Bell". It's now an Indian Restaurant
A sign dated 1741.... .... and a sun dial
